We have not heard much good about Lebanon in the recent years. The news are about the sorrowful lives of refugees fleeing neighbouring Syria, protests, the ammonium nitrate explosion that has claimed hundreds of lives, the economic crisis, the tense relationship with Israel, the energy and political crisis. When I lived there in 2016-17, I managed to get to know this face of the country, but I felt that something is lacking. In October 2021 I walked 24 days, 470km from north to south on the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT) and managed to explore the more mundane, “not news worthy” yet more real Lebanon.
